Falling in Love with Fall: October Recap
What I Wore, What I Ate, & Where I Went during the most autumn-y month of Paris
Hi friends,
Normally, fall has never been my favorite season. I like it more than winter, but autumn in Paris has always felt like the prelude to seasonal depression. This time around, autumn has been hitting different.
What I Wore:
It’s been an unusually warm autumn. I feel like at this time last year, the air was biting and cold. The kind of cold that simply makes it unpleasant to be outside. The weather in Paris has been shifting between rain, gloom, and the occasional sunny afternoon so it’s been the perfect occasion to slip into true Autumn looks.
Looks from left to right:
Attending Global Fashion Collective’s Women’s Paris Fashion Week Show.
The dress I wore to my childhood best friend’s wedding in Chicago. Apparently bordeaux is my new signature color as this photo is one of my top performing all month. Shout out to my friend Ivana for the hook-up. Dress linked here (I recommend sizing up!)
One of friends works in fashion and gave me this archived sample Sézane top. Normally, I’m not into prints, but there’s always been a special place in my heart for polka dots.
What I wore to the Jacquemus “Myths” exposition. Vest is custom Raphael de Lacroix.
Pony hair and vintage fur in general is trending so much this season. My Lemaire shoulder bag has proven to be a great little novelty accessory to add some texture to my often monotone looks.
Wearing a second hand coat from a friend. I’ll be sharing more details from my stay in Normandy in a seperate post.
What I Ate:
Those who know me well, know that I’m a creature of habit when it comes to meal prepping. I usually plan my meals four days out for lunch and dinner with room for a meal or two outside with friends. Eating out is my little indulgence but cooking is one of my greatest forms of self-care.
I got so many questions about this cafe. It’s called Kiji and there’s a small traditional Japanese tea room space upstairs. They also serve one of the biggest matcha you can find in Paris.
Traditional French duck at Cèpe & Fig. Small, cozy, and intimately located inside a little passage.
The most perfectly presented matcha at Fauna.
A typical weekly meal prep: oven roasted herb potatoes for breakfast, beef and miso ramen broth, ground Japanese beef (made with the. extra beef from the broth), Japanese rice, steamed broccoli, baked spicy buillion tofu.
To celebrate one of my friend’s birthdays, we went to Procope for dinner. The restaurant is so beautiful inside and I reccomend this place as a nice mid-tier traditional French restaurant in terms of price.
Big, chunky veggie cheeseburger at Fika cafe. Very filling and a healthy alternative to a guilty pleasure.
Plums are in season!
Love a big box of pastries. These were for the morning of my friend’s wedding.
Where I Went:
It was an art gallery filled month. Major highlights:
I attended a cocktail hour at Sotheby’s where the latest exposition, “Surrealism and Its Legacy” left me feeling absolutely enthralled to be up close and personal with such mind-bending pieces of art. From René Magritte to Joan Miró, it was the crème de la crème for any surrealist art lover.
Jacquemus is back and better than ever. I previously shared my experience visiting the latest exhibition featuring a collaboration between Simon Porte Jacquemus, Gallery Chenel, and Galerie Dina Vierny. Simply put, it made my heart happy.
Quick Beauty Edit:
Last month was all about fragrances, burnt orange eyeshadow, and tinted cheeks. I’m a minimalist, what can I say.
The new Miu Miu fragrance, Miutune, smells a bit like my teenage years: warm vanilla, fresh fruit, playful, and feminine. It’s a really nice everyday scent for just a little pop of something sweet and welcoming (gifted).
A quick selfie at the Château de Bonnemare, full blog post coming soon! This is how I wish my makeup looked everyday, but I honestly feel like I rub most if it off by the end of the day.
Merci Harbs for welcoming me into your store on the Champs-Élysées. Deeply concentrated and specifically formulated for long-wear, Harb’s fragrances are distinct, robust, and sophisticated.
Current Obsessions:
Autumn is in full swing here in Paris and thankfully it hasn’t been too cold yet. Since I’ll soon be wearing all of my coats on repeat, accessories like hairpins, clutches, and scarves will be essential to changing things up. I’m still obsessed with all the hair pin looks from The Row, Summer 2027 Lookbook as well as the new hair accessories line by Lié Studio. Fur coats never truly go out of style but lately I’ve been loving the exotic print trend cheetah, leopard, alligator, all faux and never real skins unless it’s vintage of course.
Also, since it hasn’t been that cold these days in Paris, I feel like this is the first year I’ve truly been able to appreciate the rich color of the leaves. It might sound silly, but as a girl from LA only partaking in “fake” pumpkin patches and seaside gloom, experiencing the vibrancy of autumn leaves has been good for my soul. Appreciation for the little things as the rhythm of the seasons slows has been on my mind and will continue to do so until to get me through yet another winter in Paris.
Bisous,
Kiana
