June: Monthly Round-Up
Settling back into life in Paris, surviving the heatwave, and what I’m wearing
Hi friends,
June felt like one of the most chaotic months of the year for me thus far. When I arrived back to Paris at the beginning of the month, I had severe jet lag and caught covid on the plane. I was just barely keeping it together for the first two weeks back in Paris.
Visa updates:
The good news is, things are looking up for my visa and my new work contract has been going well. By the end of the summer, everything should be settled for my job and my visa. With any luck, by August I should be able to relax a little and hopefully be able to enjoy a European summer.
New friends feature:
I’m a social butterfly to a T. I live for making a new friend especially when it’s with someone that shares a lot of similar creative interests. For me, friends are windows into a new universe.
Sisse: from Copenhagen, Denmark
We met on IG as girls with a love for minimalist outfits and niche aesthetics. I was gifted my first PR package from Adax, a Danish brand and I was so excited to shoot with Sisse since she has a bag by the same brand. I’m so excited for her to make the move to Paris soon.
Aina: from Barcelona, Spain
With a shared love for vintage fashion, we also met on IG. She works as a model and has her own vintage e-shop which she curates and shoots herself. I was honored to be approached by her to do an interview about my vintage collection for her blog, AMPM. Read my interview here.
What I wore:
Dressing chic in all forms of extreme weather is always a challenge. No one feels like layering when it feels like a suana outside. So I took style inspo from Christie Tyler and Andrea Ricci to create some summer looks that were heatwave friendly.
Styling Tips for Dressing Chic in a Heatwave:
Light, breathable fabrics are everything: linens, silks, lace are perfect for a hot summer’s day.
Style dresses as skirts and skirts as dresses. My favorite thing to do whenever I feel like I have “nothing to wear”. The first row of looks are some examples.
Accessories can make the look: sunglasses, belts, pendant necklaces, sun hats, mico bags can add a lot of personality to an outfit.
Add a hand fan for drama and convenience. Nothing chicer than a little my fair lady moment. What I ate:
I loose all sense of appetite when it feels like it’s hot enough outside to fry an egg. So in order to stay fed, nourished, and thriving, I mainly relied on fruits and making homemade lemonade to stay hydrated.
My homemade lemonade recipe:
2 whole squeezed lemons (save a few slices for garnishing)
3 tbsp (or to taste) brown sugar made into a simple syrup with hot water
Fresh mint
2 tbsp (or to taste) honey
Set squeezed lemon juice and slices aside.
Make simple syrup by boiling 2-3 cups of water and dissolving honey and brown sugar
Mix simple syrup and lemon juice together. Add ice to chill.
Garnish with mint and lemon slices.
Where I went:

As always, thank you so much for reading and I wish you a lovely summer wherever this year takes you.
Bisous,
Kiana
